YSP 50 / 50 FUNDRAISER
May
1
to May 31

YSP 50 / 50 FUNDRAISER

Welcome to the YSP 50/50 Fundraiser event!
Support local creativity and get a shot at winning big!

Yazzabear Self-Publishing Press is launching our first-ever 50/50 fundraiser — where community support meets a little chance.

Here’s how it works:
Donate $5 or more to help fund our community-powered events, creative workshops, and publishing projects.
Every $5 donation = one entry into the pot.
At the end of May, one lucky donor will be randomly selected to win 50% of the total donations. The other 50% powers YSP’s grassroots creative work in the Bay Area.

How to enter:

  • Donate $5 or more via Venmo @yazzabearpress

  • Include "50/50" in the message or note

  • Every multiple of $5 counts as an additional entry (e.g. $15 = 3 entries)

Runs: May 1–May 31, 2025
Winner announced: June 1, 2025

Whether you win or not, you're fueling the kind of art, stories, and gatherings that keep the community strong.

50/50 Fundraiser – FAQ

What is a 50/50 fundraiser?
It’s simple — you donate, and at the end of the fundraiser, one lucky donor wins 50% of the total pot. The other 50% goes to support Yazzabear Self-Publishing Press and the community events we host.

How much do I have to donate to enter?
The minimum entry is $5. Every $5 = 1 entry. So $10 gets you 2 entries, $20 gets you 4, and so on.

Where do I send my donation?
Send it via Venmo to @yazzabearpress
Make sure to include “50/50” in the message or note field so we know it’s for the fundraiser!

When does the fundraiser run?
Start: May 1, 2025
End: May 31, 2025
Winner Announced: June 1, 2025

How will the winner be chosen?
We’ll randomly select a name from all valid entries and announce the winner on June 1. The winner gets half of all donations collected in May.

What does my donation support?
Your contribution helps fund free community events, creative workshops, local shows, open mics, and YSP’s mission to build accessible publishing and production spaces for emerging creatives.

Is my donation tax-deductible?
Not yet — YSP is an emerging nonprofit and working toward official status. For now, your donation isn’t tax-deductible, but it is deeply appreciated and community-powered.

Can I still support if I don’t want to enter the raffle?
Absolutely! Just send your donation via Venmo and leave out “50/50” in the message — we’ll know you’re supporting out of pure love.

  • Restorative Justice-Based Creative Workshop

    Thurs, May 8, 2025 5:30-7:30PM

This workshop is a space for healing, reflection, and honest creative expression. Rooted in restorative justice values, it invites participants to explore the impact of harm—both the harm we’ve experienced and the harm we may have caused—and to reflect on what accountability, repair, and growth can look like in our lives.

Through guided writing prompts, quiet reflection, and community dialogue, we create a space to process complex emotions and experiences, not to find easy answers, but to deepen our understanding of ourselves and one another.

Each session culminates in an optional contribution to a collective publication—a printed archive of truth, vulnerability, and lessons learned—honoring the many ways we navigate being human together.

This workshop is open to all adults, no writing or RJ experience necessary. Just bring your presence and your story.

Restorative Justice-Based Creative Workshop – FAQ

    1. What is this workshop about?
This is a restorative justice-informed creative space where we reflect on harm, healing, and accountability — both personal and collective. Through writing, dialogue, and creative expression, we build toward shared understanding and transformation.

    2. Do I need to have experience with restorative justice or writing?
Not at all. This workshop is open to all adults. No experience necessary — just a willingness to reflect, create, and be in community.

    3. What happens during the workshop?
Each session includes grounding, group discussion, reflective prompts, and quiet creative time. There’s no pressure to share, but space is always held for those who want to.

    4. What kind of writing will we do?
You'll be invited to explore personal truths, lived experiences, and stories around hurt, healing, and growth. You can write prose, poetry, fragments — whatever form feels right.

    5. What is the collective publication?
At the end of the workshop (and others like it), we compile selected pieces from participants (with consent) into a printed zine or publication — a shared artifact that reflects the lessons and voices of the group.

    6. Do I have to be published to participate?
No. You are free to write just for yourself. Publication is optional, and you’ll have the choice to share anonymously, with a name, or not at all.

    7. Is this free?
Yes, all YSP workshops are free. Donations are welcome via Venmo @yazzabearpress to help sustain future events and publications.

    8. Can I bring a friend or just show up?

    1. What’s this gathering about?
It’s a casual community meeting to plan The Local Reverb live show. We’re linking up with the bands, creatives, and organizers to make the night flow smooth and feel good. Come brainstorm, volunteer, or just learn more!

    2. Who’s invited?
Anyone! Especially creatives, students, artists, writers, musicians, educators, and community-minded folks. No experience needed — just a desire to build something cool together.

    3. Do I have to perform or volunteer to attend?
Nope! This is a no-pressure space. You're welcome to just hang out, share ideas, or listen in.

    4. Will there be food or drinks?
We’ll have drinks available (by donation), but no food this time — feel free to eat before or bring snacks.

    5. Do I need to bring anything?
Just yourself! But feel free to bring a notebook, flyers, or ideas if you want to contribute.
